The Sharjah Advisory Council urged the expedited issuance of the Sharjah Health Authority’s organizational structure to enhance performance efficiency. This move aims to streamline coordination between healthcare entities while ensuring the authority has the necessary independence to fulfill its responsibilities effectively.
The Sharjah Advisory Council recommended granting the Health Authority greater flexibility in hiring specialized medical professionals, prioritizing UAE nationals, to improve healthcare quality. It also emphasised developing infrastructure to attract investments and strengthen Sharjah Healthcare City as a leading medical hub. Additionally, the council stressed the expansion of health insurance coverage for all registered citizens, with increased benefits to meet growing healthcare demands.
In order to provide complete health care in keeping with the emirate's expanding population, the proposals additionally highlighted the need of working with the Emirates Health Services and other institutions to extend the launch of hospitals and medical facilities. The council also underlined the need of putting in place precise procedures for monitoring the private healthcare industry, giving the government the capacity to license healthcare providers, regulate medical facilities, and guarantee that services fulfill global quality standards.
Finally, in accordance with Amiri Decree No. (12) of 2010, which created the Sharjah Health Authority, the council emphasized the need of combining all government healthcare services under its authority. Enhancing service integration and coordinating efforts to improve the emirate's overall healthcare efficiency are the goals of this initiative.
With an emphasis on enhancing emergency and critical care, the Council suggested bolstering hospital healthcare services. Along with creating cutting-edge ambulance services to guarantee prompt medical intervention in conjunction with relevant authorities, it also underlined the need of improving autism and addiction treatment facilities. These suggestions support Sharjah's goal of offering an innovative, integrated healthcare system that satisfies the highest medical standards.
The session, led by His Excellency Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Council, commenced with a parliamentary inquiry from Hamad Abdulwahab Al Qwadi, a council member, directed to the Sharjah Police General Command concerning the promotion system for agents within the emirate’s police and security forces. Major General Abdullah Mubarak Bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, participated in the discussion, where he addressed concerns regarding the delays in the promotions of several officers.
Major General Bin Amer emphasized that Sharjah Police is unwavering in its commitment to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in the organisation and development of the police force to guarantee fairly advancement in employment. He remarked that in the six months since taking on administrative responsibilities, he has focused on building on previous achievements to improve police effectiveness and bolster the security framework of the emirate.
He emphasised that Sharjah Police is committed to fostering employee satisfaction, as demonstrated through a range of supportive initiatives. He also noted that the organisational structure has experienced considerable changes, with a new approach implemented for managing assistant agent promotions. The strategy includes a thorough examination of the police workforce, which consists of 7,000 members, to guarantee equity and transparency.
Additionally, Major General Bin Amer highlighted that the SP has carefully reviewed all issues concerning officers and non-commissioned personnel, bringing these matters to the attention of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah. A new framework has been introduced to guarantee an equitable and just promotion system. He also recognized the ongoing challenge of accommodating police personnel at the Sharjah Police Academy, which continues to be a crucial factor in effectively managing promotions.
Major General Abdullah Mubarak Bin Amer affirmed that the Sharjah Police General Command functions within an established legal framework that upholds the rights of all its members, ensuring fairness and equality in career opportunities. He highlighted that every decision taken by the police force has its foundation in top-level directives, regulatory frameworks, and the welfare of the public.
Major General Bin Amer concluded by stating that Sharjah Police remains committed to advancing its institutional framework to improve efficiency and ensure fairness in career advancement, aligning with the vision of the esteemed leadership.
Council Member Hamad Abdulwahab Al Qwadi acknowledged the dedicated efforts of Sharjah Police in upholding security and safeguarding public safety. He praised their contribution to strengthening stability and safeguarding lives throughout the emirate.
Major General Abdullah Bin Amer stated that the Sharjah Police General Command is actively reviewing job seekers' applications, reflecting its commitment to strengthening its workforce with qualified personnel. He highlighted the significance of the evaluation process, making certain that candidates undergo thorough assessment to determine their fitness for military service.
He emphasised that upcoming appointments will take place soon, with a comprehensive review of all applications to guarantee equitable employment opportunities and ensure that all qualified candidates are given proper consideration.
The Council Secretariat concluded the session by announcing that the upcoming 11th session is scheduled for Thursday, March 13, where the policies of the Sharjah Economic Development Department will be discussed.
