David Gibbon at Xposure: Pushing limits in wildlife photography

February 21, 2025 / 10:46 PM
Sharjah 24: At the Xposure International Photography Festival, wildlife photographer David Gibbon highlighted the challenges and rewards of capturing images in extreme environments. He stressed that working in harsh conditions builds perseverance and determination, pushing photographers beyond their comfort zones.

Arctic and Desert: Two Extreme Yet Similar Landscapes

Gibbon pointed out the striking similarities between photographing in the Arctic and the desert—two vastly different yet equally unforgiving landscapes. While Arctic temperatures plunge to minus 30 or 40 degrees, desert heat soars to extreme highs. Both settings demand patience, strategic composition, and an eye for minimalism, making techniques like the rule of thirds essential.

Xposure as a Hub for Learning and Inspiration

Reflecting on the festival, Gibbon praised Xposure as an incredible platform for photographers to learn, connect, and refine their craft.
