Sharjah 24: “The planet is not dying but we are; it will thrive again. As a fashion photographer, what I can contribute to the planet is to invite people to enjoy its beauty through my art,” said Andrea Belluso, a versatile photographer, during his talk “Arts for Future, Nurturing the Planet through Arts” at the 9th edition of the International Photography Festival (Xposure), which began at Aljada, Sharjah on February 20.

Art for nature: Belluso’s initiative for environmental change

The London-based Italian photographer introduced his four-year-old initiative, Art for Nature, which dedicates 70% of funds from the sale of his art to environmental efforts. Belluso aims to support organisations that efficiently utilise funds to heal the earth, focusing on conservation projects like the Calakmul rainforest in Mexico.

Using creativity to promote conservation

Belluso presented stunning photographs of models, including a ballerina from the Royal Opera House, London, set against the breathtaking backdrop of Calakmul. His work highlights mankind’s connection with nature, with the proceeds dedicated to rainforest conservation.

Power of light and oneness with nature

With a focus on blending humanity and nature, Belluso spoke about how light can change reality and emphasised the need for greater harmony with the planet. “The planet is just fine without us,” he reminded the audience, advocating for a deeper connection with nature.

Xposure 2025, organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), runs until February 26, featuring over 100 galleries with more than 2,500 images from over 300 photographers. Visit Xposure.net for more information.
