Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation held two engaging workshops as part of the "Athar" program. These workshops brought together over 30 girls, ages 8 to 12, to learn and explore in a fun and interactive way. The foundation aims to support children who have lost their fathers and to help them build strong values and positive behaviors.

The program is designed to help people build their self-confidence and learn how to adapt to their environment. It emphasizes the importance of being kind to oneself and not being afraid to fail. Additionally, it encourages participants to ignore negative feedback from others and to seek out their own strengths..

It's important for children to learn responsibility and build self-confidence while becoming more independent. They can do this by observing their surroundings and exploring nature. Working together on activities also helps them develop teamwork skills. By interacting directly with nature and animals, kids gain valuable hands-on experiences that help them understand and appreciate the environment around them.

The first workshop took place at Al Noor Island in Sharjah and featured a variety of fun activities. Participants had the chance to color butterflies in ways that reflected their own personalities, showcasing their strengths, weaknesses, and unique qualities. The workshop emphasized the importance of surrounding oneself with good friends, building self-confidence without becoming arrogant, and learning to accept helpful feedback while steering clear of negative comments. Additionally, the activities were connected to the idea of the "butterfly effect," which illustrates how small actions can lead to significant changes.

The second workshop took place at the Arabian Wildlife Centre and Children’s Farm in Sharjah, where children were introduced to the fascinating wildlife of the UAE and the critical importance of preserving biodiversity. They explored the center’s corridors to learn more about the various wild animals housed there and engaged in an interactive session with specialists who discussed animal behavior and conservation methods. To wrap up the experience, participants had fun in a creative activity where they crafted flamingo masks, guided by a workshop led by the center.

In the second part of the workshop, the children got hands-on experience with feeding and taking care of pets. This helped them learn about being responsible. There was also a discussion where the kids talked about the importance of gratitude in their everyday lives, sharing the things they are thankful for.

Nawal Al Hamdi, Director of the Social Welfare Department, emphasized that the workshops are part of the Foundation's initiatives to enhance the skills of orphans and equip them for life with confidence and positivity. These workshops aim to deliver high-quality programs that bolster their capabilities and support their success across various dimensions of life. The workshops have yielded positive outcomes and have been met with enthusiastic participation from the children. Their evident interest in the activities has significantly contributed to fostering cooperation and promoting social integration.

The Athar Program provided educational experiences aimed at empowering the children who have lost their fathers and fostering their development as active members of society. Through a series of interactive workshops, participants acquired knowledge related to the environment and wildlife. These activities also focused on instilling values such as responsibility, gratitude, and teamwork, which are considered important for preparing children for future life experiences.

The Foundation is dedicated to helping orphans and empowering them to lead fulfilling lives. We offer supportive programs that focus on improving their emotional and social well-being. Our goal is to help these young individuals grow into confident and resilient people who can tackle life's challenges.
