Sharjah 24: Sharjah Media City (Shams), in cooperation with Al Thiqah Club for Disabled, organised, on Tuesday, sports events under the title “Shams and Al Thiqah”, which were held on the grounds of Al Thiqah Club for Disabled, with the participation of more than 20 employees from both sides.

Building an integration culture

The events aimed at enhancing cooperation and communication between employees of the two institutions and people with disabilities, building a more integrated and comprehensive work environment, and establishing a culture of integration through direct interaction and joint activities.

The sporting events were attended by Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Thiqah Club for Disabled; Adnan Al Mansouri, Director of Media Talent Development at Sharjah Media City (Shams); and a number of members of the club’s board of directors, and saw interactive sports and entertainment activities, in addition to awareness programmes that enhanced the participants’ self-confidence to open new horizons for creativity and excellence.

Community partnership

Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa praised the “Shams and Al Thiqah” event organised by Sharjah Media City (Shams), in cooperation with the club, stressing that it represents a distinctive model of community partnership aimed at enhancing the integration and empowerment of people with disabilities in various fields.

Al Midfa added that the “Shams and Al Thiqah” events are not just a sporting or entertainment event, but rather a community message that confirms that people with disabilities are an essential part of the social fabric, noting that the club believes that empowering them is not limited to providing them with support, but rather giving them the full space to participate, innovate and produce, so that they can be active in the development process.

Integrating all segments of society

Al Midfa stressed that the initiative reflects the commitment of Shams and Al Thiqah Club for Disabled to provide quality programmes aimed at enhancing the self-confidence of people with disabilities and opening new horizons for them in the sports and cultural fields, stressing the continuation of organising such events that contribute to achieving the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah in supporting and integrating all segments of society.
