Sharjah 24: Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has completed a project to expand and upgrade roads in the Muwailih suburb, by implementing new lanes, pedestrian crossings and parking lots, as part of the authority's ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance the smooth flow of traffic in the emirate.
His Excellency Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of SRTA, confirmed that the project comes within the framework of the authority's strategic plan aimed at improving the efficiency of the road network and achieving the highest standards of safety and quality in infrastructure. The plan is part of the ongoing work to develop roads in the Emirate of Sharjah, in line with the rapid urban and economic development, and enhances ease of movement, especially in light of the growing population density witnessed by the emirate, noting that providing pedestrian crossings and regular parking contributes to raising levels of traffic safety, and achieving a more comfortable and safe driving experience for residents and visitors of the emirate.

Al Othmani explained that the project included expanding the main road in Muwailih suburb to two lanes in each direction, with a length of 2.5 km, in addition to 3 turning openings, indicating that the project will contribute to doubling the road's capacity and reducing traffic congestion in the area.

Crossings and parking
Al Othmani explained the authority's keenness to enhance traffic safety standards by establishing 3 pedestrian crossings controlled by three traffic lights, in addition to a pedestrian crossing button, to meet the need to facilitate the movement of individuals and vehicles in the area to ensure the safety of road users, with the addition of 330 regular parking spaces to serve residents and visitors.

Sustainable development
SRTA Chairman confirmed that the implementation of the project comes as part of the Sharjah government's commitment to developing an integrated and sustainable infrastructure that supports economic and social development in the emirate, and meets the needs of urban expansion and increasing population growth. This achievement reflects the authority's commitment to continue developing the road network and enhancing safety and efficiency levels, to ensure a safe and comfortable traffic environment for all.
