Sharjah24: The Sharjah Volunteer Award (SVA) , in collaboration with the Sharjah Center for Volunteering, has announced the launch of its second challenge initiative for February titled "Our Heritage is a Trust." This challenge is part of a new community initiative aimed at presenting 12 volunteer challenges over 12 months to foster a spirit of volunteering and innovation across various fields.
The February challenge aligns with joint efforts to enhance national identity and preserve the Emirati heritage as a cultural legacy reflecting the authenticity and values of Emirati society. It aims to engage the community in maintaining Emirati heritage as a cultural inheritance that showcases the essence of national values.

The challenge encourages innovative ideas and volunteer initiatives that contribute to protecting both tangible and intangible aspects of heritage, whether through documenting customs and traditions or sustaining heritage sites, bridging authenticity with development and enhancing pride in national identity for current and future generations.

Strengthening national belonging
In this context, Fatima Al Bloushi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Volunteer Award, emphasized that the challenge "Our Heritage is a Trust" stems from their vision to enhance national belonging and pride in heritage. She noted that heritage is the link that connects generations and fosters communication between the past and present. This initiative is seen as an opportunity to stimulate individuals to think creatively and launch volunteer projects that enhance Sharjah's position as a pioneering center for volunteer and community work.

Through the "Our Heritage is a Trust" challenge, everyone is invited to contribute innovative ideas that help preserve our heritage and national identity. Protecting heritage is a national duty and a collective responsibility that ensures the continuity of authentic Emirati values for future generations. She added that they look forward to receiving contributions that highlight the impactful potential of simple and creative ideas in achieving positive change and establishing volunteering as a sustainable community value.

The community can engage and participate in the challenge by submitting innovative volunteer ideas and initiatives that support its goals by contacting the Sharjah Center for Volunteering at 800 700 or via email at [email protected].

The "Our Heritage is a Trust" challenge is part of a series of diverse monthly challenges aimed at stimulating volunteer work across various fields, enhancing sustainable development, and reflecting Sharjah's position as a beacon for volunteerism. This initiative also seeks to promote a culture of volunteering among all segments of society, encouraging individuals to explore new and innovative ways to serve the community.
