The meeting was held, on Wednesday, at the Council’s headquarters in Sharjah, as part of the Committee’s work for the second regular session of the eleventh legislative term. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Hind Saleh Al Hajri, the Committee’s rapporteur, with the participation of the Committee members and SCC members, in addition to the Council’s General Secretariat staff.
SHA policies and plans
The meeting was an important milestone in preparing for the next session, which will focus on reviewing the policies and plans adopted by SHA in providing health services and ensuring their quality, in line with the Emirate’s general directions in supporting the health sector.
The meeting reflected SCC commitment to its role in monitoring government performance and providing recommendations that contribute to improving services provided to the public, as dialogue with government agencies is one of the main pillars for enhancing joint work and achieving the strategic goals of the emirate in the health field.
SHA is one of the leading entities in enhancing the health system in Sharjah, as it undertakes multiple tasks that include developing the infrastructure of health facilities, improving the level of medical services, and strengthening partnerships with local and international health institutions.
SHA also contributes to implementing initiatives that enhance public health, by providing health insurance services, supporting public health programmes, and enhancing awareness and prevention of chronic diseases.
Developing health services
The meeting discussed several topics that will be addressed during the next session, including mechanisms for developing health services, expanding the scope of health insurance, improving the patient experience in medical facilities, and enhancing integration between health institutions in the emirate.
The challenges facing the Authority and ways to address them were discussed in a way that contributes to achieving Sharjah's vision of providing a sustainable health environment that meets the needs of citizens and residents.
