Sharjah24: The Arab Theatre Authority (ATA) is organising a training course for supervisors of school theatre activities with the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education. This initiative is set to take place from February 8 to 13, 2025, as part of a decade-long collaboration between the Authority and the Ministry. This partnership has previously led to the development of several courses and the training of facilitators, supervisors, and core teams.
Attendees and trainers
Twenty individuals selected by the Ministry will take part in this course. The training will be conducted by Ghannam Ghannam, the Director of Training and School Theatre at the Authority, alongside two members from the Committee responsible for implementing the Strategy for Developing School Theatre in the Arab World: Ms. Sharifa Musa Al Mazmi from the United Arab Emirates and Dr. Mohammad Hilal Al Shari’ from Jordan.

Venue and cultural programme
The course will take place at the "Osama Al-Mashini Theatre" in Amman, Jordan, in partnership with artist Abdul Karim Al-Jarrah, who serves as the Director of the Theatre and Visual Arts Directorate at the Jordanian Ministry of Culture. Along with the rigorous training programme, the Authority has developed a complementary cultural agenda to familiarise participants with different facets of Jordanian theatre and culture.

Secretary-general statements
Ismail Abdullah, Secretary-General of the Arab Theatre Authority, stated that under the direct guidance of its supreme president, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the Authority places special emphasis on training and qualification programmes. He recognised the important and influential programmes achieved with Palestinian theatre colleagues over the last ten years, along with key initiatives involving various Arab ministries, particularly the creation of a theatre curriculum for all grades in Emirati schools in 2019. Abdullah highlighted that the Authority's strategy has significantly impacted the Arab theatre scene, expressing pride in the steady advancement of school theatre and confirming continued cooperation with all stakeholders, particularly the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO).

Future strategy
Abdullah also announced that the Arab Theatre Authority will formulate a new strategy for the next ten years in 2025, commemorating the tenth year of executing its initial decade-long plan established in 2015.
