Sharjah 24: The Regional Office of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) in Sharjah is participating in the activities of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SEF) 2025, the largest event of its kind in the region, which is held under the theme “Where We Belong” during the first and second of February at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park.

The participation comes within the framework of the organisation's convergence of its role towards supporting innovation and entrepreneurship and enhancing cooperation between entrepreneurs and innovators from around the world, and constitutes a continuation of the role of the ICESCO Regional Office in enhancing the innovation environment and supporting start-ups, by providing a dynamic platform that highlights innovative pioneering solutions in various fields.

Provides an opportunity to enhance cooperation between start-ups and entrepreneurs

His Excellency Salem Omar Salem, Director of the ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah, stressed that participation in this festival provides an opportunity to enhance cooperation between start-ups and entrepreneurs, and contributes to highlighting innovative solutions in the fields of technology, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and smart agriculture.

Hosting a group of start-ups

He explained that the office's platform hosts a group of start-ups that provide pioneering solutions that serve sustainable development, including the Azerbaijani company SnackPack, which operates in the agricultural technology (AgriTech) sector, and aims to reduce food waste by linking restaurants with consumers to provide surplus meals at reasonable prices, which enhances environmental sustainability.

The platform also hosts the Egyptian company Egrobots, which provides smart robots based on artificial intelligence for early detection of crop diseases and monitoring agricultural production, which helps increase productivity, reduce chemical waste, and conserve water consumption.

In addition to the participation of Falcon Robotics from the UAE, which works in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics, and contributes to the development of advanced technologies to support digital transformation in various sectors, including Industry 4.0 and smart agriculture through the REIM platform, which unifies crop, climate and soil data to support smart agricultural decisions.

In the field of biotechnology and smart agriculture, the platform hosts the Turkish company Biopols, which has developed an innovative bio-coating based on natural materials to extend the shelf life of fresh produce, reducing food waste by up to 30% and reducing bacterial and fungal contamination by 80%.

Salem Omar stated that through this participation, the ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah enhances its role in supporting innovation and enabling entrepreneurs to explore new horizons, in line with the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah to embrace pioneering ideas and promising projects and develops the office’s efforts to promote education, culture and sustainable development.
