Sharjah24: Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, emphasised that sustainable leadership and future foresight require a long-term vision and a profound understanding of societal needs. He noted that the UAE has set an unparalleled global example in this regard.
Dr Al Nuaimi delivered these remarks during a lecture titled Sustainable Leadership and Future Foresight, organised by the Salem Bin Ham Cultural Centre in Al Ain. The event, held yesterday, was attended by Sheikh Muslim Salem Al Ameri, alongside distinguished figures, intellectuals, media representatives, and members of the public. Also in attendance were members of the Sharjah Executive Council, including Sheikha Ali Al Naqbi, Jasim Mohammed  Al-Naqbi, and Obaid Ahmed Khasao.

At the beginning of his lecture, Dr Al Nuaimi posed a thought-provoking question: "Are leaders born or made?" He proposed a third perspective—leaders shaped by society’s ability to cultivate individuals who inspire future generations.

He reflected on the UAE's extraordinary progress over the past decades, surpassing nations with far greater resources. This achievement, he explained, is rooted in the visionary leadership of the UAE’s founding fathers, who anticipated future challenges and understood the needs of their people long before the advent of modern data or advanced technologies.

Dr Al Nuaimi highlighted the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, as a prime example of sustainable leadership. He pointed to Sheikh Mohamed's commitment to investing in human capital and knowledge, recognising these as essential drivers of economic growth and diversification. His Highness’s forward-thinking vision has strengthened the UAE’s position as a leader in education, technology, and the global economy.

Citing key strategic projects, Dr Al Nuaimi mentioned the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant as a shining example of the UAE’s proactive leadership. The plant, developed to meet future energy needs while reducing carbon emissions, reflects the nation's dedication to sustainability.

Dr Al Nuaimi also praised the efforts of UAE leaders in fostering strong ties between leadership and the community. He highlighted the initiatives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in strengthening social bonds and addressing citizens' needs.

He underscored the importance of a secure and stable environment as a foundation for sustainability. Dr Al Nuaimi noted that the UAE has successfully built a society where safety and security enable productivity and development.

Turning to future planning, he emphasised the significance of forward-looking strategies in areas like housing. He cited projects in Al Yahar, Al Ain, as an example of meticulous planning initiated decades ago to address future housing demands. These initiatives, he noted, demonstrate the UAE’s commitment to creating high-quality, sustainable, and community-centred projects.

In conclusion, Dr Al Nuaimi reiterated that sustainable leadership and future foresight depend on an inspiring vision and a deep understanding of challenges and opportunities. He affirmed that the UAE has established itself as a global role model, driven by wise leadership and a cohesive society that fosters an environment conducive to sustainable development.

The Salem Bin Ham Cultural Centre, under the leadership of Sheikh Muslim Salem Bin Ham Al Ameri, serves as a beacon of cultural enrichment in Al Ain. The centre plays a pivotal role in preserving the UAE’s heritage, promoting its enduring values, and contributing to the nation’s progress by championing culture, knowledge, and scientific innovation. Through its diverse activities and initiatives, the centre continues to enhance cultural and intellectual engagement within the community.
