The healthcare sector is a top priority in the United Arab Emirates, serving as a vital foundation for the well-being and future of its people. As such, the UAE has dedicated extensive resources to creating an integrated healthcare system that guarantees a high quality of life and happiness for all residents and citizens.

Reflecting the UAE's national commitment, the Emirates Health Services (EHS) was established to enhance the federal health sector and deliver comprehensive healthcare and medical services. Prioritising preventive measures against epidemics and diseases, EHS is committed to sustainable healthcare development through cutting-edge technologies and strategic partnerships.

EHS endeavours to become a global leader in healthcare by launching pioneering initiatives to advance health and preventive care, aiming to set new standards in this crucial field, including:

The promotional campaign for telemedicine services

The Emirates Health Services (EHS) has integrated telemedicine into its healthcare strategy to improve accessibility and service delivery. By leveraging advanced technology, EHS has streamlined operations, boosting both efficiency and the speed of core services.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, EHS introduced the virtual doctor platform, allowing patients to access medical care remotely, without needing to visit hospitals or clinics. This initiative has provided telemedicine services to numerous patients nationwide, reflecting EHS's dedication to improving the accessibility and quality of healthcare.

Blood donation campaigns

The EHS spearheads blood donation campaigns as part of its dedication to fostering social responsibility and a culture of philanthropy by encouraging donations to meet patients' needs.

This initiative entails organising awareness and educational campaigns highlighting the importance and benefits of blood donation for both patients and society. It also involves arranging regular campaigns at designated centres spread across various emirates, including the Sharjah Blood Transfusion and Donation Centre and the blood bank branches at Khorfakkan Hospital and Al Dhaid Hospital.

Nursing scholarships

The Emirates Health Services (EHS) provides scholarships to high school students, offering young citizens a valuable opportunity to pursue a bachelor's degree in nursing. These scholarships are awarded to students who meet the admission requirements of the partnered universities. The Nursing Scholarships cover tuition fees and study costs while also providing academic and professional support throughout the studies and beyond.

A trust programme to support healthcare in case of critical events

The “Trust Health Care Provider Support” programme delivers crucial assistance to healthcare providers facing psychological and emotional stress from severe, unexpected medical events. This initiative is central to EHS’s strategy to enhance workplace quality and emphasise the importance of supporting employees’ mental and emotional health.

The Trust Programme adheres to international best practices grounded in scientific evidence to improve healthcare providers’ rights. It prioritises fair treatment, respect, understanding, empathy, supportive care, and transparency.

The EHS has appointed a central committee to oversee and implement this programme in coordination with relevant authorities, ensuring a safe and supportive work environment. This, in turn, positively affects both the quality of healthcare and patient safety.

The initiative of enhancing nursing profession attractiveness

In 2015, following a ministerial retreat, the Ministry of Health and Community Prevention launched the “National Initiative to Enhance the Attractiveness of the Nursing Profession.” This initiative aimed to attract nationals to nursing roles, aligning with the health needs of the community.

This initiative provides distinctive healthcare that is commensurate with the country's unique environment and culture. It supports the localisation of the nursing profession by motivating citizens to enter this crucial field. This not only enhances the quality of healthcare services but also ensures that the needs of society are more effectively addressed.

The Youth Voice initiative

The Youth Voice initiative aims to empower young people to shape the future of the Emirates Health Services (EHS) by providing them with essential leadership skills and cognitive tools. It encourages them to share innovative ideas, actively participate in strategic decision-making, and tackle challenges.

By fostering these qualities, EHS seeks to develop a dynamic and creative generation of young leaders poised to drive the institution's future success and goals.
