Sharjah24: The Sharjah International Marine Sports Club's Board of Directors convened for its final regular meeting of 2024, led by Chairman Khalid Jassim Al Midfa. The meeting was attended by board members and the Club’s General Manager at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah.

The board expressed its heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, along with His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. Their unwavering support for the sports sector in Sharjah has been instrumental in achieving excellence across all levels, showcasing the emirate's distinguished reputation.

The board expressed its gratitude for the ongoing support from His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi and His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, both Deputy Rulers of Sharjah. Their commitment to promoting marine sports and enhancing sports institutions in the emirate aligns perfectly with the vision and ideals of our wise leadership.

The meeting covered a range of topics outlined in the agenda, including a review of the financial statements and the monthly media report. Following this, Ahmed Issa Al Hosani, the Director General of the Club, provided a thorough update on the final preparations for the second edition of the Khorfakkan Marine Festival. This highly anticipated event will take place under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, from December 27, 2024, to January 5, 2025, at Khorfakkan Beach.

Al Hosani highlighted the key events and activities featured in the festival, such as showcases of traditional craftsmanship and interactive workshops designed for children to learn the art of dhow-making. The festival also organized a variety of cultural and artistic competitions that celebrate maritime heritage. Visitors had the chance to experience riding traditional dhows and gain an intimate understanding of sailors' lives and the intricacies of diving excursions. Additionally, the festival included various competitions and championships focused on marine sports.

Varied Global Participation

This year, the festival will showcase teams from various Gulf and Arab nations, along with participants from other countries, which will enrich the festival's international appeal. It also serves as a platform to spotlight the maritime heritage of each participating nation, helping visitors deepen their appreciation for the shared cultural heritage across the region.

Al Hosani expressed his appreciation for the successful collaboration with various governmental and private entities in the Emirate of Sharjah, emphasizing that their joint efforts are crucial to the success of this significant event. He highlighted that such initiatives play a vital role in promoting cultural and marine tourism, drawing visitors from around the globe.

Concluding the meeting, Al Midfa thanked all council members for their dedication and contributions to the club's development. He encouraged everyone to continue striving for excellence in the diverse activities and interactive programs offered to the public.
