Sharjah24: Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF) , in collaboration with the University of Sharjah's mobile dental clinic, launched a medical initiative to provide free dental check-ups for orphans and their mothers enrolled in the foundation. This initiative benefited 102 individuals in the Emirate of Sharjah and the Eastern Region. It aims to improve the health quality of beneficiaries and raise awareness about the importance of oral health care.
The initiative included comprehensive dental examinations conducted by a team of specialised doctors and dental students, who provided general dental services. Initial diagnoses, personalised medical consultations, and appropriate treatments for each case were offered, alongside health education on the importance of personal hygiene for oral health and its role in preventing dental and gum diseases. More complex cases were referred to the University of Sharjah Dental Hospital for further treatment.
Nawal Al-Hammadi, Director of the Social Prosperity Department, stated, "This initiative is part of a series of health programmes that the foundation aims to provide to ensure the health and safety of orphans. Supporting and caring for health is not just a humanitarian duty, but a long-term investment in building capable individuals who can actively participate in society in the future, enhancing sustainable development by improving their quality of life, ensuring healthy growth, preventing diseases, and alleviating financial burdens on families."
She added, "We thank the mobile clinic team from the University of Sharjah for their ongoing support and fruitful collaboration that reflects our shared commitment to serving community members and providing field medical services to deserving groups efficiently."
Maryam Obaid Al-Shuwain Al-Kaabi, responsible for the University of Sharjah's mobile dental clinic, mentioned, "Thanks to the generosity of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the mobile dental clinic was established in 2016 to reach all community members who find it difficult to access dental services, including the elderly, bedridden patients, people of determination, orphans, and their families in Sharjah and other Emirates."
She continued, "In collaboration with the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation, the mobile dental clinic provided services to over 70 orphans and their families enrolled in the foundation in Sharjah and Khorfakkan, offering treatments such as extractions, root canal therapy, fillings, cleanings, and medical consultations for all patients. I extend my sincere thanks to our father, His Highness Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi, for this generosity; we are here to serve this beloved nation."
The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation continually seeks to implement programmes and initiatives that support various life aspects for orphans and their families, in collaboration with various entities across community sectors.
