Sharjah24: South Korean Kim Min-jae guided German team Bayern Munich to a 1-0 victory over French guests Paris Saint-Germain in the fifth round of the UEFA Champions League.
Bayern Munich continued its resurgence and strong performances both domestically and internationally by defeating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the fifth round of the Champions League.
The only goal of the match was scored by South Korean defender Kim Min-jae with a header following a corner kick in the 38th minute of the match held at the Allianz Arena, the home of the Bavarian team.
This marked Bayern's second consecutive victory in the Champions League, having previously defeated Portuguese side Benfica in the last round, raising their points total to 9 in 11th place.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain finished the match with ten players after star Ousmane Dembélé was sent off in the 56th minute for a violent tackle on Canadian left-back Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich.
The Parisian team's points total remained at four, dropping them to 26th place and out of the qualification spots for the Round of 16, following their second consecutive defeat and third overall in the Champions League, after losing to Atlético Madrid 2-1 in the previous round.
Despite winning by a single goal, Bayern Munich missed several opportunities throughout both halves due to the poor finishing of stars Leroy Sané, Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, and Kingsley Coman, while a shot from Jamal Musiala hit the post in the second half.
Paris Saint-Germain managed only a few attempts, the most dangerous of which were two shots from João Neves and another from Dembélé before his dismissal, which were saved by Bayern's goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
In the next round, Bayern Munich will face Shakhtar Donetsk from Ukraine, while Paris Saint-Germain will visit Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.
