At the beginning of the meeting, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed welcomed the council members and expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his trust, support, and guidance. He emphasised the council’s commitment to implementing the Ruler’s directives to achieve its objectives in managing and organizing the judiciary in Sharjah, while ensuring complete judicial independence, integrity, and equality.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed commended the council members for their valuable contributions, emphasising their important roles and responsibilities. He also stressed that the council's initiatives would centre on protecting and enhancing the judiciary through the integration of technological innovations and ensuring efficient, transparent services for clients.
He emphasised the critical need for training and enhancing human resources to fortify the judicial system in Sharjah. He also highlighted the importance of boosting Emiratisation rates to achieve the established goals, reinforcing the council’s commitment to maintaining the local judiciary’s reputation and positive image.
The council discussed several important judicial issues, focussing on the proposed legislation for judiciary regulation in Sharjah, the action plan for the transitional phase, and the collaboration strategies with the Ministry of Justice and federal entities. The council decided to form a special committee made up of some of its members and representatives from the relevant government entities in the Sharjah Government to facilitate a smooth transition without affecting judicial services in the emirate.
Attending the meeting alongside the Chairman of the Judicial Council were Sheikh Faisal bin Ali bin Abdullah Al Mualla, Secretary-General of the Judicial Council; Dr. Mansour bin Nassar, Chairman of Sharjah Government Legal Department; Judge Dr. Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, Chairman of Sharjah Court; Judge Ahmed Abdullah Al Mulla, Chairman of the Court of Cassation; Judge Dr Omar Obaid Al Ghoul, Head of the Courts of First Instance; Judge Abdul Rahman Sultan bin Taliah, Head of the Courts of Appeal; Judge Dr. Salama Rashid Salem Tamim Al Ketbi, Head of the Judicial Inspection Department; and Counselor Anwar Amin Al Harmoudi, Attorney General and Head of the Public Prosecution Authority.
