Al Hamriyah win 20 medals in Emirates Cup Swimming Championship

Sharjah24: Hamad Yousef Al Shehhi, a swimmer from the Al Hamriyah team and the UAE national team, set two new records during the Emirates Cup Swimming Championship for the 15-16-17 age groups. The event took place on November 16 and 17, 2024, at the Mohammed bin Zayed Aquatic City Pool in Abu Dhabi.
Al Shehhi achieved an impressive feat by breaking the state record in the 100-meter freestyle race with a remarkable time of 54.28 seconds. He also set a new personal best in the 50-meter freestyle race for his age group, clocking in at 24.69 seconds. This accomplishment allowed him to surpass the records for both the 16 and 17-year-old categories. In addition to his record-breaking performances, he was honored with awards for being the best swimmer and for setting the best record.

The swimmers achieved remarkable success, securing a total of 20 colored medals: 5 gold, 8 silver, and 7 bronze. Notably, Al Shehhi contributed significantly to this haul with an impressive tally of 3 gold medals and 1 bronze.

Humaid Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Hamriyah Club, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Al Shehhi for setting two records, as well as to the swimming team for their remarkable medal achievements. He praised all members of the team, including the administrative staff, technical experts, and athletes, for their dedication and hard work.

Hamad Al Shehhi, the team administrator, along with Yousef Al Shehhi and technical director Ahmed Gamal El Din, expressed their satisfaction with the two new records achieved by the Al Hamriyah swimmer and the national team. They also recognized the significant contribution of the club’s board of directors and the Sharjah Sports Council in reaching these impressive milestones.
