Sharjah24: At the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) , Emirati author and researcher Fahd Ali Al-Ma'mari signed his new book, "Popular Papers," at the signing corner, attracting a wide audience of heritage and literature enthusiasts. The book is considered a valuable addition to the Emirati library, featuring a collection of articles that deeply explore various aspects of Emirati folk heritage.
"Popular Papers" addresses multiple topics related to Emirati folk heritage, such as customs and traditions, proverbs and folk poetry, as well as jewelry, adornment, and social rituals that reflect the life of the ancient Emirati community. The book consists of about thirty to forty articles published in newspapers and magazines over the years, some of which are peer-reviewed research that enriches its content with accuracy and detail.
Speaking about the book, Al-Ma'mari said, "Through this book, I wanted to provide young readers with a window to explore Emirati folk heritage in a simplified and accessible way. I have gathered a diverse bouquet of heritage topics to open new horizons for readers to delve into their ancestors' heritage and understand the values and customs that shaped our identity."
He added that "Popular Papers" includes a mix of research-based and narrative styles, making it an enjoyable and easy-to-read book that covers various topics such as traditional medicine, plants used in the UAE, as well as popular perfumes and poetry that reflect the wisdom and ways of life of the ancestors.
Al-Ma'mari explained that compiling these articles into one book aims to document Emirati heritage in a way that facilitates understanding and appreciation for future generations, adding, "The book is not just a narration of history; it is a bridge connecting the past and present, aimed at enhancing national identity and transmitting authentic values to the younger generations."
