Sharjah 24: Rawdha Al Serkal has made history by winning the Arab Chess Championship, becoming the first Emirati woman to claim the prestigious title.
Representing both the national team and Abu Dhabi Club for Chess and Mind Games, Al Serkal also earned the title of International Grandmaster and secured her spot in the upcoming Chess World Cup.

Al Serkal's victory in the Classic Chess Championship came after defeating Egypt's Joy Romani in the eighth round, bringing her total score to 7.5 points and clinching the title before the final round. This achievement adds to her collection of medals, including a silver in Blitz and a bronze in Rapid, raising the UAE's medal tally to six, including additional honors for other Emirati players.

The championship, hosted by the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club and organized by the Arab Chess Federation, attracted over 200 male and female players from 18 countries. Among the top competitors, Emirati player Anoud Issa secured second place, while Algerian Bilal Belhassen triumphed in the men’s category.
