Sharjah 24 – AFP: London's underground train network has warned of "little to no service" on several days next week after negotiations to prevent strike action broke down on Thursday.
If the strikes proceed, it would pose a challenge for Britain's Labour government, which has vowed to resolve the strikes that have affected various sectors in recent years.
Transport for London (TfL) announced that most underground lines are expected to be out of service from Tuesday, November 5, to Friday, November 8, with additional disruptions anticipated on November 12.
Workers represented by the Rail, Maritime and Transport union and the Aslef union are planning to strike over pay, terms, and conditions.
"We are continuing discussions with all trade unions to address the issues and find a resolution," said Claire Mann, TfL's chief operating officer.
Britain has faced a surge of public and private sector strikes over the past two years, driven by demands for wage increases amid rising living costs. These strikes have included various professions, from nurses and doctors to teachers and bus drivers.
Labour, under Prime Minister Keir Starmer, regained power from the Conservatives in a general election in July.
