The workshop aimed to enhance cooperation in intellectual property (IP) initiatives and fields for the coming phase, bringing together Abdullah Ali Al Mahyan, Head of the Federal Affairs Office in Sharjah; Dr Abdul Rahman Hassan Al Muaini, Assistant Undersecretary for the Intellectual Property Sector at the Ministry of Economy; and representatives from various Sharjah government bodies.
The event focused on the Ministry’s role in supporting IP and promoting awareness of its importance in Sharjah.
Abdullah Al Mahyan expressed appreciation for the Ministry's efforts in advancing IP protection and encouraged Sharjah’s government entities to document and protect their innovations. He underscored the value of collaboration between local and federal organisations in achieving shared goals.
Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Muaini highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment for IP, advancing creativity and innovation in alignment with international standards, and bolstering knowledge-based initiatives. He also acknowledged Sharjah’s advanced IP infrastructure and the importance of ongoing workshops to facilitate collaboration and share best practices.
The workshop further detailed the Ministry’s comprehensive IP system, introduced earlier this year, which includes 31 initiatives aimed at creating a competitive environment for inventors and creators to develop pioneering ideas and transform them into successful ventures.
This system ensures robust protection across local, regional, and international domains, covering patents, industrial designs, copyrights, and trademarks.
