Sharjah 24: The Committee for Combatting Violations in Farms in Sharjah held a meeting with the Municipal Council and the Municipality of Al Dhaid, attended by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Saeed Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Municipal Council, His Excellency Hamad Rashid Al Tunaiji, Director of the Municipality, and His Excellency Khalid bin Falih Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Committee. The meeting focused on the committee’s plans and the results achieved during the visits organised to the farms in Al Dhaid, enhancing cooperation and joint coordination to monitor any violations, and emphasising ongoing awareness to optimise investment in these areas.
Khalid bin Falih Al Suwaidi confirmed that the meeting discussed several proposals and recommendations to strengthen joint efforts and coordination between the committee, the Municipality of Al Dhaid, and the Municipal Council. This includes continuing to organise inspection tours and visits that the committee had initiated earlier, which identified some harmful practices and misuse of certain farms, leading to immediate actions taken in coordination and cooperation with the relevant authorities in the emirate. This aligns with the committee’s efforts to rectify conditions for farms where any violations are observed, while also educating their owners on the importance of utilising the farms for their intended purpose.
Al Suwaidi noted that the committee established a communication mechanism with various municipalities in the emirate to unify efforts and highlight the importance of measures to eliminate harmful practices or violations. This is in line with the emirate’s directives regarding farms and agricultural lands, which are considered a true wealth for achieving self-sufficiency and enhancing the food security system due to their role in producing various crops and raising livestock or pets. The committee is also focused on taking administrative and legal actions against violations that negatively affect farm usage and the overall appearance.
The committee organised more than 31 inspection campaigns on farms in Al Dhaid to identify any violations. These include random division of lands, converting them into storage for construction materials, or housing for workers, or establishing workshops for blacksmithing, carpentry, or vehicle maintenance in ways that violate the regulations and laws and the goals for which these farms were designated, which are limited to agricultural investment. The committee has taken action against these violations and urged the owners to rectify their situations.
