Sharjah 24: Mohamed Fawzy, Director of the Early Intervention Centre at Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, shared that the city commemorated International White Cane Day on October 15 in the Aljada area of Sharjah.
In an interview with Sharjah 24, Fawzy emphasised the centre's commitment to celebrating this day annually to highlight the white cane's significance for individuals with visual impairments. He noted that the cane serves as an extension of their senses and helps communicate their need for assistance, enabling easier mobility in various environments.

The event featured a dialogue session titled "My Cane," where visually impaired individuals shared their personal experiences from their lives and workplaces. Fawzy also mentioned that the international company "Citizen" collaborated with the city to create a specialised watch for the visually impaired, which promotes independence. They donated several of these watches to participants with visual disabilities.
