Sharjah 24 – WAM: UAE Team ADQ has announced the signing of Italian cycling star Elisa Longo Borghini on a three-year contract. Longo Borghini, a two-time Giro d’Italia Women champion and five-time Italian national road champion, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Women’s World Tour team. Alongside her, Australian rider Brodie Chapman has also signed a two-year contract, marking her as the first Australian to join the team.
Elisa Longo Borghini has had a remarkable career since turning professional in 2011. With victories in prestigious races such as the Giro d’Italia Women, the Tour of Flanders, Strade Bianche, and Paris-Roubaix Femmes, her prowess on the bike is well recognised. Recently returning from the UCI Road World Championships in Zurich with two bronze medals, she is poised to target major races, including the Giro d’Italia Women and the Tour de France Femmes in 2025.

Brodie Chapman, who has built a reputation as one of the most dedicated riders in the peloton, expressed her excitement about joining the team. Chapman’s arrival adds depth to the team, complementing Longo Borghini’s experience. A former national road champion, Chapman played a crucial role in Longo Borghini’s recent successes and is eager to contribute further to the team’s ambitions.

In addition to these notable signings, UAE Team ADQ announced that Karlijn Swinkels has extended her contract until the end of 2026.

Melissa Moncada, President, UAE Team ADQ, emphasised the significance of these signings, stating, “Elisa represents excellence in our sport, and her leadership will drive our team to new heights. Brodie and Karlijn bring incredible qualities that align with our vision for continuous growth. These talented athletes create a powerful synergy that positions us for success. To us, this means not only achieving remarkable results on the road but also inspiring aspiring cyclists and fans alike. Our journey is just beginning, and with this strong team dynamic, we are ready to make a lasting impact in the cycling world.”
