Sharjah24: As part of the (Shawir) Initiative organised by the Family Development Department in Sharjah, 120 group and individual counseling sessions were held this year, providing therapeutic guidance to 28 critical student cases.
The Family Counseling Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs welcomed 12th-grade students from Al-Istiqlal Private School to raise awareness about the role of family counseling in family reform, empowerment, and promoting family stability.
Moza Al-Shehi, Director of the Family Counseling Department, emphasised the importance of self-empowerment and balance between family and personal ambition. She outlined the department’s efforts in offering family counseling across Sharjah and its surrounding regions.
Hanadi Al-Malla, Head of the Legal Counseling Department, explained how the Shawir Initiative focuses on reducing family conflicts among school students. Legal counseling sessions aim to provide solutions that ensure family stability while minimizing legal issues.
The event also featured workshops where students interacted, sharing challenges and achievements. Amira Al-Marzouqi, Head of the Psychological and Family Counseling Department, highlighted the critical role of family, psychological, and educational counseling in ensuring mental and emotional stability within families. She also mentioned that children's drawings often reveal underlying psychological or family issues affecting their well-being.
