Sharjah 24 – WAM: Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, emphasized that Dubai has emerged as a leader in the green economy and the shift toward clean energy, following the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
He made this statement during the opening of the 26th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), organized by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) from October 1 to 3 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, featuring over 2,800 companies from 65 countries.
Sheikh Ahmed noted that sustainability and energy security are top global priorities. WETEX serves as a vital platform for innovation and investment, aligning with the UAE’s commitment to a sustainable economy. It fosters cooperation among specialists, investors, and decision-makers, promoting international partnerships in energy and environmental sectors.
The exhibition, attended by key officials including Matar Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of DEWA, showcases the latest advancements in renewable energy, water desalination, and environmental sustainability. Sheikh Ahmed toured various pavilions, including those of international participants from countries such as Russia, Italy, Korea, and Germany, gaining insights into cutting-edge technologies.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasized WETEX’s role in connecting global companies with local firms, highlighting Dubai's initiatives in clean energy and sustainability.
Notable ambassadors also expressed their countries’ commitment to sustainability at the event, underscoring the importance of international collaboration in tackling climate challenges.
WETEX 2023 aims to enhance Dubai’s position as a hub for innovation in clean and renewable energy while fostering partnerships that drive sustainable development.
