Sharjah24: The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF) has allocated over AED 5 million to assist with the educational costs of 130 orphaned students studying in Sharjah and the central and eastern regions. These students faced accumulated fees at the start of the 2024-2025 academic year. This support comes as part of the SSEF’s dedication to advancing the educational path of orphans through its academic initiative.
Mona bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Foundation, highlighted the vital role education plays in the lives of orphaned children. She emphasised the Foundation’s dedication to quality education with its significant initiative, which highlights education as an essential requirement for personal and societal development. This initiative supports parents in dealing with obstacles to ensure their children's education continues smoothly.
She stated that the service of covering tuition fees is crucial for students in schools and universities, especially as the number of beneficiaries from this service increases annually, reflecting the growing enrolment in the foundation. She also added that this initiative focusses on providing educational support to orphaned students, aiming to enhance their academic progress through planned programs that promote their success in education.
Since its launch, the “Allama Bil Qalam” project has garnered significant engagement, reaching nearly 160 government and private institutions across the UAE. This widespread participation highlights the community's awareness and responsiveness in supporting the education of fatherless children, promoting collaboration, solidarity, and shared responsibility within society.
Hamad Al Owais, Director of Government Communication at the Department of Planning and Survey, expressed appreciation for the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation's significant contributions to this essential segment of society. He stressed the importance of government-private collaboration in fostering academic success and reaffirmed the department's commitment to backing the initiative, which plays a key role in empowering orphans for future achievements.
