Sharjah 24: Under the slogan "Bird Tales", the Mohammed bin Rashid Library (MBRL) participates in the 24th Sharjah International Narrator Forum (SINF), held at the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) from September 19 to 22, with a unique set of educational and entertainment activities for children and youth.
Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazrouei, Board Member of MBRL said that through the participation, the library seeks to shed light on narrative and cultural heritage, enhance cultural dialogue between generations, in addition to stimulating imagination and developing narration and writing skills among participants.

Al Mazrouei added that MBRL is keen to be part of this important event that contributes to spreading cultural knowledge, communicating with members of society, and strengthening cultural ties between different generations, in a way that supports the vision and aspirations of the leadership for a knowledge renaissance over the next fifty years, and the National Strategy for Cultural and Creative Industries, which aims to enhance the UAE position on the global cultural creativity map and make the UAE an attractive destination for creatives in the cultural field from all over the world.

Ali Juma Al Tamimi, Director of Libraries Department at MBRL said that the library participation in the forum aims to provide activities that enrich children and young people experience, help them acquire new skills in narration and writing, in addition to enhancing their love of reading and creativity, and contributing to connecting them to the Emirati and Arab cultural heritage in an interactive and enjoyable way.

Over the course of four days, MBRL offers many activities and workshops to encourage children and young people to take an interest in heritage and learn from folk tales, as the events begin with a story reading session entitled “Some Birds”, followed by an art workshop that gives children the opportunity to design a bird with distinctive characteristics.

On September 20, children and young people will enjoy reading the story “The Little Penguin Wants to Fly” with a team from MBRL, then participate in an artistic workshop to make a bird’s nest, which aims to develop their artistic and expressive skills.

Events will continue on September 21, with a workshop for young people on “The Falcon in the Emirates”, in addition to competitions on types of falcons and messages from carrier pigeons, and reading the story “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus” to encourage them to interact and participate in heritage activities.

On September 22, the library will present a reading session for children on the story “The Falcon and the Sparrow”, with an artistic workshop entitled “Colourful Birds”, in addition to exciting competitions, followed by announcing the results of the “Carrier Pigeon Messages” workshop.

Through this participation, MBRL seeks to provide a comprehensive and diverse educational experience, aiming to attract children and young people towards the world of reading and knowledge in an interactive and enjoyable way, and to stimulate the imagination of participants and develop their creative and intellectual abilities, in line with its strategy and vision to lead the promotion of the knowledge and cultural scene at the national level.
