Sharjah 24: Sharjah Public Works Department (SPWD) has completed comprehensive development and expansion at the University of Khorfakkan (UKF) Library, increasing its capacity from 100 to 230 students.
Eng. Abdullah Al Tunaiji, Director of the Branches Department at SPWD, confirmed that work included optimal utilisation of existing spaces, which contributed to providing new study areas and modern facilities aimed at better serving students.
Al Tunaiji added that expansion comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to develop the educational infrastructure and enhance the academic environment at the university, which contributes to providing a comfortable and stimulating study environment for students.
Al Tunaiji pointed out that the previous library could accommodate 100 students, but after the expansion and development, it will be able to accommodate more than 230 students. Spaces were also utilised and designed in a way that suits the total area of the library, which is 1,900 square meters. He added that the new distribution of spaces was done with a modern design, as three reading areas, three areas for bookshelves, two electronic libraries, discussion rooms for nine people, a closed lecture hall for 22 students, and an open debate area for 16 people were provided. The expansion also included the creation of a separate study room for male and female students, a seating area, in addition to a café and administrative offices. These improvements aim to create an integrated educational environment that meets the academic needs of students and provides them with a suitable place for study, research and discussion.
