Sharjah 24: The Districts Affairs Department in Sharjah concluded its discussion sessions presented as part of the 13th edition of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) 2024, organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau on September 4 and 5 under the theme "Agile Governments... Innovative Communication," at the Sharjah Expo Centre.
The discussion sessions, enriched by experts, provided a strategic opportunity to enhance communication effectiveness between the Districts Affairs Department and the community through Suburb Councils and Parent Councils. It also offered a platform for exchanging knowledge, experiences, and best practices in government communication.
The sessions were attended by His Excellency Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Districts Affairs Department, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Suleiman Al Kabouri, Director of the Districts Affairs Department, along with a large audience and invitees.
The sessions opened with a panel titled "Government Communication for Suburb Councils: Challenges and Opportunities," attended by Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, and Dr. Abdulaziz Saeed Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority. The panel was moderated by Maryam Allay. Major General Al Zari highlighted the department's role in enhancing security and community services, while Dr. Al Muhairi praised its collaboration in health and awareness fields.
The second session, titled "Flexible Government Tools for Enhancing Communication between Suburb Councils and the Community," was moderated by Talal Abdullah. His Excellency Hassan Abdullah Al Balghouni, a member of Al Rahmaniya Suburb Council, discussed the importance of government tools in improving communication between councils and the community.
The third session, titled "Suburb Councils and Building a Dynamic Social Communication Model," was moderated by Ahmed Al Naqbi, with participation from His Excellency Amer Mohammed Al Zarouni, a member of the Sharjah Consultative Council, who shared his personal experience with Mughaider Suburb Council.
On the second day, the Districts Affairs Department continued its discussions with a fourth session titled "Effective Steps by Suburb Councils in Strengthening Family Bonds," featuring Dr. Khawla Abdul Rahman Al Mulla, Chairperson of the Sharjah Family Affairs Authority. The session was moderated by Dr. Abdul Salam Al Hammadi, and Al Mulla discussed strategic topics aimed at fostering family harmony.
The fifth session, titled "The Fruits of Flexible Government in Parent Councils," featured His Excellency Ali Ahmed Al Hosani, Director of the Sharjah Private Education Authority, and His Excellency Dr. Ali Obaid Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Khorfakkan Parents Council. Moderated by Maryam Fikri, the session focused on collaboration between families, schools, and community institutions for the benefit of students.
The final session, "Most Effective Communication Strategies for Parent Councils," featured Salah Khamis Al Hosani, Chairman of the Teachers Association, and was moderated by Maryam Allay, emphasising the standards and tools needed to achieve successful strategies with student councils.
