Sharjah24: House of Wisdom (HoW) has successfully wrapped up its Summer Camps 2024, attracting 500 participants across three immersive initiatives, including the ‘Hayy ibn Yaqdhan - Survival Camp, ‘Al Jazri Digital Innovation Programme, and the Youth Camp. Each offered an enriching platform for creativity, knowledge, and skill development throughout the summer break.
Hayy ibn Yaqdhan inspires over 390 participants

The Hayy ibn Yaqdhan - Survival Camp captivated 392 children and young adults with diverse activities. These included preparing healthy foods, animal care, woodworking, herbal therapy, artistic and musical activities, and Taekwondo sessions. Inspired by the novel Hayy ibn Yaqdhan by Andalusian author and philosopher Ibn Tufayl, the camp encouraged kids to learn essential survival skills, explore nature and natural resources, and learn the best practices for preserving them.

Al Jazri Programme preps future innovators

The ‘Al Jazri Digital Innovation’ programme sparked a passion for innovation and discovery in over 30 participants. They developed their skills in drone design, robotics, AI programming, and digital manufacturing. The programme’s three pillars—Future Technology, Robot Genius, and Creative Arts—provided an ideal environment for participants to refine their abilities and nurture their talents.

Youth Camp chronicles over 40 success stories

The ‘Youth Camp’ provided more than 40 participants with immersive experiences, offering opportunities to learn diverse skills. They embarked on a fun-filled, environment-friendly journey to create elegant bags utilising recycled material. They also journeyed into coffee history and engaged in sensory experiences, transforming into baristas mastering espresso and focusing on perfecting brewing methods and techniques.

Through workshops like the Buzzing Bee Adventure Camp, Creative Crochet Camp, Zaatar Babka Bread, and Cinnamon Rolls, participants were inspired by the values of teamwork and self-dependence. Additionally, they participated in a workshop titled ‘Nurture Your Children Emotionally,’ which emphasised the importance of fostering strong family relationships by meeting children’s emotional needs.

Comprehensive experiences

Marwa Al Aqroubi, Executive Director of HoW, stated: “Our summer camps provided participants of all ages with invaluable experiences through diverse and well-rounded programmes tailored to their passions and designed to enhance a wide range of skills. By integrating theoretical knowledge with hands-on application, the camp offered participants a unique environment where they could put their learning into practice. This approach deepened their understanding, bolstered their confidence, encouraged critical and creative thinking, and fostered a strong sense of teamwork and unity.”
