This project involved the construction of a network of main roads spanning a total length of 9.5 km. This project is a significant undertaking by the Authority to improve infrastructure efficiency in line with international standards for roads in the Emirate of Sharjah.
His Excellency Engineer Yousef Khamis Al-Othmani, Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority in Sharjah, emphasised that the project is being implemented in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at introducing a network of main roads in Al Sajaah industrial areas. He added that the roads in the Emirate of Sharjah play a crucial role in supporting economic growth and sustainable development. They are an essential part of the infrastructure that is keeping up with the comprehensive progress happening across various vital sectors in the country.
He also highlighted the continuous and diligent follow-up by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate, to promote the growth of road projects alongside other important initiatives. These efforts aim to foster an optimal atmosphere for economic diversification, offering a range of opportunities for companies and investors.
He explained that the project was successfully completed within the designated timeline, with constant oversight from relevant departments and coordination with local government bodies in the Emirate. He stated that the coordination between all team members ensured a smooth and effective accomplishment of the project's phases, meeting the desired goals and carrying out the projects outlined in the development plan.
According to Al Othmani, the project will include the construction of two roads. A new road is being built from Intersection No. 8 on Al Dhaid Road towards the Al Saja'a area. The project features the addition of two lanes with a length of 2.2 km, a width of 7.4 meters, and a 12-meter-wide central median. In addition, the project will involve the construction of four pedestrian crossings equipped with traffic signals to enhance pedestrian safety while crossing the road.
The project includes the construction of two U-turns and six slip roads at key roundabouts in the Al Sajaah Industrial Area to improve traffic flow, particularly for trucks and commercial vehicles. Additionally, six public bus stops were added on both sides of the road, and roads and parking spaces were built for nearby mosques, providing 144 parking spots.
The Chairman of the SRTA provided details about the construction of a new road. This road will consist of a single carriageway with two lanes in each direction, connecting the ninth intersection on Al Dhaid Road to the Hudaybiya district. A 3.8 km road has been constructed, complete with asphalt shoulders on both sides, a protective barrier for vehicles, and foundations for lighting poles.
In the heart of the Al Sajaah Industrial Area, the remaining part of the project will focus on constructing single carriageways with two lanes in each direction. These roadways will be 7.3 meters wide and stretch a total of 3.5 km. The roads in this area are designed to facilitate smooth and uninterrupted vehicle flow, with controlled entry and exit points that connect to the main road.
