Dibba Al Hisn Municipality combats breast cancer

Sharjah 24: On the occasion of Emirati Women's Day and as part of its community initiatives, Dibba Al Hisn Municipality received the Pink Caravan, a Pan UAE breast cancer initiative that falls under Friends of Cancer Patients' umbrella “Kashf” that aims to raise awareness about methods of early detection of cancer.
The municipality allocated a large area in the city's heritage village to receive and operate the Pink Caravan mobile medical clinic, which represents a leap in the field of providing early detection services for breast cancer. It is the first mobile clinic of its kind in the world equipped with the latest medical equipment and modern technologies, as it provided free examinations to municipality employees aged 20 to 40 years, and all government departments operating in the city, visitors and residents of the city.

The clinic saw a great turnout from female employees in the aforementioned age group to benefit from its advanced free services, and conduct clinical examinations for early detection of breast cancer.

The municipality also organised an awareness workshop on the importance of early detection of breast cancer, directed specifically to female employees of Dibba Al Hisn Municipality and other government departments in the city, in addition to the city's residents who seek more information and support.

The workshop included interactive sessions presented by specialised experts and included instructions on self-examination methods and the importance of early detection, with the aim of achieving maximum benefit and increasing health awareness among participants.

Talib Abdullah Al Yahyaei, Director of Dibba Al Hisn Municipality, said that the initiative confirms the municipality's commitment to strengthening effective community partnerships that serve the city's residents." 

He pointed out that the partnerships are a fundamental pillar in building a healthy and sustainable society, as the municipality works with many governmental and private institutions to provide awareness programmes and continuous support for residents.

He added that community partnerships continue with government and private institutions and bodies, and play a vital role in launching health and educational initiatives that concern all segments of society. He confirmed that the municipality always strives to improve services to ensure the health and well-being of every individual in the city of Dibba Al Hisn.

Al Yahyaei expressed his thanks and appreciation for the great role that the Pink Caravan has been playing for years in all parts of the UAE, and its pioneering role in raising awareness of the importance of breast cancer prevention.
