Sharjah 24: Ahmed Al Meel, Director of the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), stated that the community prevention initiative in schools is a proactive initiative that raises the efficiency of the educational and administrative staff to implement preventive measures and develop proactive solutions to students’ problems. The SSSD will be keen to make every possible effort in this initiative to be a safety valve for children, the community and the school environment, in sustainable cooperation with the partners in the initiative.
He said that the schools of the Emirate of Sharjah are on the threshold of a new academic year, during which they will receive students in a stimulating and safe school environment, in which all relevant authorities contribute in cooperation with strategic partners, in an effort to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to always pay attention to the family and the school.
He pointed out that the initiative came under the directives of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, through implementing a proactive initiative that raises the efficiency of the educational and administrative staff, implementing preventive measures, and developing proactive solutions to problems, if any. The SSSD will be keen to make every possible effort in this initiative to be a safety valve for children, the community, and the school environment, in sustainable cooperation with the partners in the initiative.
The Director of the SSSD added that the initiative is based on the combined efforts of all parties involved in the educational process, including psychologists, social workers, teachers and parents of students, as all these parties play a pivotal role in protecting children from several imminent dangers.
From this standpoint, national programmes in the country, including this initiative, seek to detect these social risks and educational behaviours early, according to psychological standards and awareness skills development programmes, and protect children from all surrounding risk factors.
A programme will also be launched to detect abuse, violence or danger against children through the educational system, and to identify protection procedures for children at risk or violence on the child helpline, characteristics of emotional development in children, the most prominent mental health problems of adolescents, and methods of dealing with children who have been subjected to abuse or violence to support and protect them in the future.
