Nine student projects participated in the initiative, organised in collaboration with the Sharjah Academy of Police Science, affiliated with the Sharjah Police General Command. This initiative was part of the summer "Police Friends" programme, which involves various government agencies and institutions.
Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani, Director General of the Sharjah Academy of Police Sciences, stated that the initiative aimed to support children and encourage them to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and leadership skills, transforming these into future projects. The determination of the 22 participating students, who presented 9 diverse projects, was key to the initiative's success. This initiative is one of the most significant in motivating young people to enter the world of trade and business. It also saw broad participation from government institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah.
In this context, Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Sharjah Economic Development Department, emphasised that the Foundation is committed to launching community initiatives in collaboration with strategic partners. These efforts aim to instill entrepreneurship concepts in young people from an early age, preparing and motivating the next generation of entrepreneurs. By developing their entrepreneurial behaviour to meet market demands and modern economic and technological changes, the Foundation enhances community partnerships between schools and the community, serving the local economy and fostering a productive and creative generation.
He noted that this mini version of the initiative was unique as it was organised for the first time during the summer vacation season, following the conclusion of the 2024 school year. Moreover, integrating the initiative with the Friends of the Police Summer Session activities attracted visitors and families to view the students' various projects. As a result, the students' total sales amounted to 30,000 dirhams.
Fatima Al Ali, Acting Director of the Sharjah Foundation for Supporting Entrepreneurial Projects (RUWAD), stated that the Foundation is dedicated to spreading the culture of entrepreneurship among children, school, and university students. By motivating and encouraging them to take their first steps in freelance business and entrepreneurship through small projects, the Foundation seeks to involve them in various exhibitions and activities throughout the year. RUWAD organised an introductory day for students over three days before the initiative's launch, which included a series of training workshops to teach them the basics and skills of entrepreneurship, conducted by specialised trainers and consultants. Additionally, the Foundation granted the participating students 9,000 dirhams to support and ensure their readiness for successful project participation.
The Foundation plans to organise the main annual "Business Stars" initiative on its usual date at the end of December. Details of the event will be announced later.
