Sharjah24 - AFP: Russian bombardment of east and northeast Ukraine killed five people including a child on Thursday, days after the United Nations warned attacks against civilians had become systemic, officials said.
Ukraine has suffered a string of deadly strikes this week, including a missile attack on Kyiv and other cities on Monday that partially destroyed a children's hospital and left over 40 people dead.
Areas of the frontline Donetsk region came "under enemy fire all day" Thursday, leaving three people dead including a 15-year-old boy in the town of Myrnograd, governor Vadym Filashkin said on Telegram.
In the northeast Kharkiv region, where Russia launched a fresh ground offensive in May, bombardment of the border village of Bilyi Kolodyazh killed two, governor Oleg Synegubov said.
Russia says its forces only target military infrastructure.
The United Nations warned on Tuesday it had observed a "deeply concerning pattern" of systemic attacks on civilian infrastructure, including Monday's missile strike on Ukraine's largest children's hospital.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged allies to bolster air defence systems at a NATO summit in Washington this week amid a rise in civilian casualties.
