This decision aims to support the advancement of women’s sports in the United Arab Emirates, particularly in the Emirate of Sharjah. It also emphasizes the role of Emirati women in sports at regional and international competitions, encouraging their representation on various sporting platforms. The decree aligns with Sheikha Jawaher’s vision of empowering women to positively impact their communities by leading national institutions that contribute to the prosperity of the Emirate.
Moza Al Shamsi has an illustrious record of contributions and achievements in the sports field. Recently, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi honored her with the prestigious ‘Continuous Giving’ medal in recognition of her efforts to elevate the sports sector in Sharjah, in addition to her administrative responsibilities with Sharjah Youth, which falls under Rubu’ Qarn for Creating Future Leader and Innovators. Her management contributions have facilitated services that support the youth of Sharjah and enhance their skills.
During her professional journey, Moza held the position of Head of the Financial Department at the Sharjah Sports Council from 2017 to 2019. Subsequently, she became a member of the Financial Governance Committee at the Dubai Football Association in 2018. Continuing her sports career, as a member of the Supreme Organizing Committee for the Arab Women Sports Tournament, Moza oversaw an edition that witnessed outstanding levels of participation from 15 Arab countries and 63 clubs. This reflects significant technical progress and promising prospects for women’s sports on the international stage.
Notably, Moza Al Shamsi serves on various local and continental sports committees. Her memberships include the organizing committee for the 2019 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, the Women’s Sports Federation, and the Financial Committee for the 2024 GCC Youth Games. Her extensive experience has enabled her to effectively contribute to Her Highness’s vision for developing women’s sports and enhancing their role in this vital sector.
It is worth mentioning that from 2021 to 2023, Moza Al Shamsi was a member of the Executive Committee of Sharjah Women’s Sports. Established in 2008 as a Women’s Sports Department, it later transformed into an integrated organization in 2016, aiming to establish a strong foundation for women’s sports in Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates, ultimately competing on the global stage. Inaugurated earlier this year and managed by the organization is the Sharjah Olympic Centre for Women's Sports, providing a space to support the female athletic journey, transitioning from hobbyist practice to professional representation.
