Dr Wafa Al Shamsi, winner of the Sharjah Award for Gulf Women’s Creativity in the field of literary studies, expressed her delight at receiving the award alongside a distinguished group of women from across the Arab world.
She noted that research and critical studies require significant attention and support, adding that the award provides such encouragement through its annual focus on literary studies. According to Al Shamsi, this helps strengthen the presence of female critics, writers, and researchers capable of producing insightful, in-depth critical analyses of literature.
In statements to Sharjah24, Al Shamsi expressed her appreciation to the Cultural Office of the Sharjah Family and Community Council for its efforts in ensuring that each edition of the award is a distinctive occasion, culminating in the recognition of outstanding women from across the Gulf region and the Arab world. She noted that the Emirate of Sharjah has made culture a defining identity, knowledge a mission, and the nurturing of creativity a deeply rooted institutional approach. This, she said, gives the honour special significance, as Sharjah celebrates not only achievements but also the journey, dedication, and years of commitment and belief that precede the moment of success.
