SAASST explores collaboration opportunities with NYU Abu Dhabi

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology (SAASST) at the University of Sharjah (UoS), welcomed a special delegation from the New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) to strengthen academic collaboration and explore opportunities for joint research, exchange of expertise and knowledge, and work on research projects that contribute to astrophysics sciences and technological advancement.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on SAASST’s scientific departments, including the Space Sciences Department, Sharjah Planetarium, and Sharjah Astronomical Observatory. They were also introduced to the Academy’s ongoing and future research projects in the fields of space and astronomical sciences, as well as its significant contributions and academic engagement in international conferences. The delegation also enjoyed a special show at the Sharjah Planetarium, visited the research laboratories and scientific exhibitions, and explored various educational experiments and the meteorites collection. 

The meeting was attended by Dr. Antonios Manousakis, Acting Director of Space Sciences Department, SAASST, and Marwan Shwaiki, Director of Planetarium and Community Outreach Department at SAASST. Representing New York University Abu Dhabi were, Dr. Joseph Gelfand, Associate Professor of Physics, Dr. David Russell, Associate Professor of Physics, Dr. Milan Bogosavljevic, Lecturer of Physics  and Dr. Mohammed Abbas, Research Associate.
