The opening of the Arabic Language and Arab Culture Hall comes in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the Sharjah Arabic Language Academy, who directed the establishment of the hall to be added to the series of initiatives through which His Highness supports all areas of culture and those working in it.
The ceremony was attended by the President of Al-Farabi National University, Professor Dr. Kansyiet, the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Professor Dr. Natalia, a large number of faculty members, and several guests interested in linguistic affairs. From the Sharjah Arabic Language Academy, Dr. Mohamed Saffi Al-Mostaghanemi, the Secretary-General of the Academy, and Majid Al-Houli, the Coordinator of Public Relations, attended the ceremony. Also present were Dr. Mohammed Kamel Al-Muaini and Ahmed Al-Jarwan, representatives of the International Institute of Cultural Diplomacy.
Dr. Al-Mostaghanemi delivered a speech at the ceremony highlighting the efforts exerted by the Emirate of Sharjah in empowering the Arabic language and mentioned the series of measures and practical steps implemented by the Academy in coordination with the Faculty of Oriental Studies before establishing this distinguished Arabic scientific hall, which contains all modern means for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. It is equipped with the latest furniture and has a specialized linguistic library, in which the organizers have dedicated an entire section for books by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and publications of the Academy.
The hall also includes banners and artistic paintings that narrate the history of the United Arab Emirates and the strong international relations between the two countries, consolidating bridges of communication and rapprochement between the two cultures.
Dr. Al-Mostaghanemi also said: Sharjah has become a haven for Arab culture, a destination for linguists, and a destination for scholars and artists coming from every corner. The Sharjah cultural tide and linguistic influence are spreading and gaining popularity day by day in various regions. The opening of the hall today is a practical embodiment of the fruitful cooperation between the Sharjah Arabic Language Academy and Al-Farabi National University, and it is a step followed by other steps that support and facilitate the process of teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. This is not strange to the cultural approach drawn by His Highness Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, who spares no effort to empower the Arabic language and the Historical Dictionary that he oversees, which is highly regarded by the people.
