Al Freish Dam and Wadi Sur are two of the valleys and dams that the municipality has taken the initiative to deal with in order to divert floodwaters away from farmland and residential areas and towards sea outlets, as said in a release.
In addition, the municipality brought up the idea of building man-made sand barriers at several points, including water routes, the discharge of dam surpluses, schools, residential areas, and the vicinity of certain government buildings and institutions, such as Kalba Hospital and Kalba Comprehensive Police Station.
The municipality confirmed that teams of 250 people are working nonstop to remove standing water from streets, public spaces, and residential areas. Heavy equipment, vehicles, and around forty tankers and seventy-seven pumps back them up.
