Sharjah 24 – Reuters: The European Union pledges 3.5 billion euros to protect the ocean and promote sustainability through various initiatives announced during the "Our Ocean" conference in Athens.

Commitments include fighting marine pollution, supporting sustainable fisheries, and investing in the blue economy. 

Greece also announces 780 million euros in commitments, including the creation of marine parks and a ban on bottom trawling in protected areas. 

The conference aims to mobilise over 2,160 commitments worth approximately $130 billion since its launch in 2014.
