Sundia Abdul Rahman, the Head of the Sharjah Volunteer Work Center, stated that the project consists of two initiatives: the first being the 'Eid Joy' boxes, and the second being the children's Eid allowances, which are deposited into the child's bank account in the Sondos Card. The first phase, which focused on promoting the project, has been completed, and we are currently in the second phase, which involves receiving and sorting the 'Eid Joy' boxes. The number of boxes is 250, and they contain clothes and Eid gifts that were purchased by those who wished to participate in this campaign. The campaign, which is now in its 11th year, has involved individuals and institutions and was held this year at the Rahmaniyah Center.
Sundia Abdul Rahman explained that the 'Eid Joy' box project targets 1,000 boys and girls annually during Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha. The project is one of a series of projects implemented by SSSD as part of its social responsibility efforts to bring happiness to children and promote the principles of compassion and communication among members of society to enhance social work.
She added that a team of volunteers from the Sharjah Volunteer Work Center has been formed to deliver the boxes to the children's homes and hand them over to them. Many of the donors are partners from government departments in the emirate, as well as individuals.
Sundia Abdul Rahman noted that the beneficiaries of the 'Eid Joy' project include children who lack social care, such as children in shelters like the Child and Family Protection Center, the House of Safety, and the Women's Protection Center, in addition to children with disabilities in the Elderly Care Home. The Palace Services Center is also included. All of these institutions fall under the Sharjah Social Services Department.
