Sharjah 24: The Sharjah's Men Handball Team maintained its top spot in the General Handball League standings for the 2023-2024 sports season after defeating its guest, Al Ain, with a score of 33-30, in the exciting match that brought together the two teams in the eleventh round of the second leg of the preliminary round of the competition, on Friday, at the Sharjah Sports Club hall in the Emirate, where the first half of the match ended in favour of Al Ain with a score of 15-14.
With this result, Sharjah reaches point 31, collected from 10 victories, against Al Jazira, Shabab Al Ahli, Al Ain, Al Nasr, Al Wasl, Mleiha, and Dibba Al Hisn, and a significant point after the loss to Dibba Al Hisn in the second preliminary round.
Sharjah will be guests of Al Nasr in the twelfth round, next Friday, April 5, then they will meet Al Wasl, before concluding the preliminary round against Mleiha, next April 20.
This edition of the league competition will be held in 3 rounds to determine the champion and the general ranking of the eight teams participating in it, starting with a preliminary round with a league system in two round stages, then a semi-final between the first four places in two round matches, and concluding with the final round between the winners of the golden square. While the rest of the teams from fifth to eighth will compete in a one-round to determine the positions.
