Sharjah 24: The first national football team is set to play a crucial match in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup tomorrow, Tuesday, as they meet their Yemeni counterparts at the Prince Saud Bin Jalawi Stadium in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia, aiming to maintain the lead in their group.
The first leg of the third round of qualifiers, which took place last Thursday at Al Nahyan Stadium in Al Wahda Club in Abu Dhabi, witnessed the victory of our national team 2-1.

The national team delegation arrived in Al Khobar earlier today, Monday, in preparation for the match.

Our national team currently tops Group Eight of the qualifiers with a perfect record of 9 points, followed by Bahrain in second place with 6 points, Yemen in third with 3 points, and Nepal in fourth place with zero points. Winning tomorrow's match would be the gateway to advancing to the third round of joint qualifiers.

Portuguese coach Paulo Bento relies on the young members of the national team during the match, who he deployed during last Thursday's game, many of whom excelled. Sultan Adel, a player for the national team, stood out after scoring the decisive winning goal with a header.

The national team will undergo its main training session today, Monday, at the match venue. It is expected that Coach Bento will finalise the starting lineup based on the players' readiness during training.
