Sharjah24: The Friends of Kidney Patients Association (FKPA) arranged a number of activities in honour of World Kidney Day. These activities included an awareness session for children at the National Charity Private School titled "The Importance of Drinking Water."
Furthermore, the association took part in the "Awareness Day" at the American University of Sharjah, which was hosted in the Student Affairs building and featured an introduction to the association, as well as its aims and services to patients and the community. Participating students and guests received informational booklets and gifts.
The Kidney Patients' Friends Association sent a delegation to Al-Fujairah Hospital, led by Mona Al-Haway, Chairperson of the Association's Board of Directors, her deputy Fatima Al-Mughni, and other board members. This visit sought to increase collaboration with the administration to assist renal patients and raise health awareness in order to prevent kidney disease.
The association held an awareness lecture titled "Self-Confidence" in the City of Humanitarian Services for individuals with disabilities.
As part of the World Kidney Day festivities, a cooperation was created with the Ministry of Health's representative office in Sharjah, which assisted in the distribution of water bottles to labourers.
Furthermore, the association delivered an awareness lecture at an elderly care home, introducing them to the association, its goals, and vision, aiming to benefit all segments of society.
Mona Al Hawai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Friends of Kidney Patients Association, stated that World Kidney Day serves as a forum for spreading awareness about kidney disorders, assisting kidney patients, and reaching their health goals.
She stated that the association invests annually in launching events and organising innovative programmes to raise health awareness and assist kidney patients, in accordance with the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah.

The World Health Organization's chief warns of a "pressing need" in Haiti "for safe blood products, anaesthetics and other essential medicines" amid spiralling gang violence that has plunged the impoverished country into chaos.
