The committee’s visit, on Monday, comes to combine its efforts with all parties concerned with the family and closely monitor its efforts to achieve the comprehensive vision of caring for all members of society and providing services to support and develop the family entity in building a developed and prosperous society.
SCC shared a special Ramadan Iftar, in addition to checking on their conditions and offering them gifts. This visit took place in the presence of Afaf Ibrahim Al Marri, member of Sharjah Executive Council and head of SSSD, who led a tour of the elderly nursing home.
The Council delegation included Halima Al Owais, Vice President of SCC, and from the Family Affairs Committee, Saeed Matar bin Hamid Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Committee. The delegation also included Rashid Ghanem Al Shamsi, Rapporteur of the Committee; Abdullah Al Badawi Al Hosani; Abdullah Maaden Al Ketbi; Abdullah bin Tarish Al Kaabi; Muhammad Al Alawi Al Dhahouri; Hamid Obaid Al Hamoudi, and Dr. Hind. Al Hajri, from the General Secretariat of the Council.
Halima Al Owais learned about the services provided to them at the home, including psychological, medical and therapeutic care, which is provided to them in a family atmosphere.
Halima Al Owais was keen to sit with the elderly and listen to their opinions and stories of the past, in addition to sharing their congratulations on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Iftar was served in the nursing home, where SCC visit found a good response in the hearts of the elderly, who expressed their happiness with the kind gesture of that visit, which came at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. The visit was also very welcomed by the management of the home, who praised the visit that brought joy to the hearts of the elderly.
Following the visit, and after having Iftar with Afaf Ibrahim Al Marri, in the presence of Ahmed Al Mail, Director of SSSD, in the presence of Maryam Ahmed Al Qatari, Director of the Nursing Home, and all SSSD employees, a meeting was held to review the services provided to the elederly and SSSD roles, based on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to serve and meet the elderly requirements.
During the meeting, they learned that SSSD periodically visits the elderly in their homes as well, to provide them with care and attention.
The department's efforts were reviewed in opening up volunteering for young men and women to contribute their efforts with the staff of the nursing home, with the aim of enhancing social communication and providing a warm and loving environment for the elderly.
