The closing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Salem Mohammed bin Howaiden, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club; His Excellency Humaid Abdullah Balsadria Al Khatri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Dhaid Club; His Excellency Rashid Abdullah bin Howaiden Al Ketbi, Secretary of Al Dhaid Club; His Excellency Imran Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Vice Chairman of Board of Directors of Sharjah Chess Club; Mohammed Abdullah, Technical Director of the UAE Chess Federation; Omar Noman Al Ali, Chairman of the Game Publishing Committee and Head of the Technical Staff of the Chess Federation.
The eminent grandmaster, Viorel Lordachescu from Moldova, came in first place. While the Grand Master of Uzbekistan, Alexei Barsov, came in second place, and International Master Bashir Al-Qadimi came in third place.
The tournament was supervised by international coach Abdul Qader Rais Musharraf, who is working hard to introduce chess to the Emirate of Sharjah, in addition to a group of international referees from Sharjah clubs.
His Excellency Salem Mohammed bin Howaiden expressed his pride in the tournament and the distinguished international participation, praising the effective cooperation with the Sharjah Chess Club.

His Excellency Rashid Abdullah bin Howaiden Al Ketbi, Secretary of Al Dhaid Club, confirmed that the club succeeded in spreading the culture of chess and enhancing the players’ skills, and praised the continued interest in this intellectual game.
