Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has finished distributing the “Ramadan Basket” project, which comes within the projects of its Ramadan campaign and aims to help needy families provide Ramadan supplies and basic needs throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Abdullah Sultan bin Khadim, Executive Director, said that the work teams of the SCI’s employees and volunteers assigned by the Supreme Committee for the Ramadan Campaign had finished distributing the Ramadan basket allocations, as the contents of the basket were provided in cooperation with the commercial outlets.
The SCI initially envisioned providing the basket to approximately 25,000 beneficiaries, yet the turnout of philanthropists donate to the project was great. The SCI was able to expand the beneficiary base to reach 50,000 beneficiaries from the proceeds of distributing 10,000 baskets that included many types of basic food items.
He stressed that distribution continued on a daily basis in all regions of the Emirate of Sharjah through the sub-administrations in the Central Region of Al Batayeh, Al Madam and Al Dhaid, in addition to the Eastern Region.
The distribution process also included needy families from the neighbouring emirates in Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah through existing partnerships with cooperating institutions.
He highlighted the importance of the Ramadan Basket Project in achieving the highest levels of care and support for those who deserve it, emphasising the spread of the culture of volunteerism and humanitarian work in society, which supports the values of social solidarity among the various groups of society and increases their mutual solidarity.
He extended his sincere thanks to the generous donors for their tangible efforts in supporting the project and increasing its allocations, which prompted the SCI to increase the number of beneficiaries.
