Sharjah24: The Regulatory Committee for Ports and Border Points, which operates under the Sharjah Ports, Customs, and Free Zones Authority, recently recognized its employees who were recipients of the "Deem Award for Excellence Performance" during the ceremony of its second session. The objective of the event was to celebrate the achievements of the employees, encourage their abilities, and enhance their performance efficiency. The ceremony also included the recognition of the committee's strategic partners, which was held at the Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Centre for the Conservation of the Mountainous Environment in Kalba.
The award was named "Deem" in recognition of the summit of Mount Deem in Kalba, which was named by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. It is regarded as one of the most promising tourist destinations in Sharjah and the UAE.

The honouring ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi, Director of Ports and Border Points Affairs, and Chairman of the Regulatory Committee for Ports and Border Points in Sharjah; Adnan Al Nuaimi, Vice Chairman of the Committee, and Director of the East Coast Office of the General Administration of Ports Security; Colonel Walid Mohammed Al Nahm, Head of the External Ports Police Department at Sharjah Police; Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Saeed Al Afari, Commander of the Northern Sector in the Border Guard Group; Abdulrahman Al Kindi, Assistant Director of the Khatm Milaha Customs Center, as well as a group of officers, employees, and representatives of strategic partners.

The recognition included the distinguished employees of 2023 who achieved the highest results in performance indicators, employees with qualitative seizures, and the special honour category, which included employees of the operational agencies in the ports. The latter were recognized for their effective and sustainable initiatives and efforts that had a positive impact on the committee's work. The strategic partners were also recognized for their vital role and outstanding efforts in achieving the common objectives of the committee's work.

During the ceremony, Al Raisi delivered a speech in which he conveyed the greetings of Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ports, Customs, and Free Zones Authority. He also expressed his gratitude to all entities operating in the ports and border points sector, in addition to all employees who contributed to the committee's accomplishments in 2023. This period witnessed a significant increase in operational indicators, such as a 25% growth in the number of passengers arriving and departing through ports and border points in Sharjah, as well as facilitating the movement of intra-regional trade.

Al Raisi praised the efforts of all employees, their spirit of teamwork, and their contribution to achieving national work objectives. He commended their dedication and excellence in customs, security, and support work, as they are the nation's impregnable bulwark. He acknowledged their efforts in serving passers-by and facilitating procedures based on modern technologies and employing them in this regard.

During the ceremony, the Khatm Milaha port security team was also recognized. Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Tariq Nasib Al Belushi from the Sharjah Police General Command, Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al Kindi from the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, and Khaled Karam Al Kaabi from the General Administration of Ports Security were honoured for their notable efforts in preparing the security plan for the port and obtaining accreditation as the first land port in the country.
